A cool handle does not mean every accessible surface stays cool. Claims need defined points, operating modes and standardized safety evaluation.

Define what is being claimed

‘Cool touch’ can refer to a handle, door system or broader accessible surfaces. Without a defined area, mode, duration and ambient condition, the phrase is not testable. Glass, metal trim, controls, side walls and top surfaces can have different limits and user-contact assumptions under the applicable safety standard.

Measure under relevant worst cases

Identify the operating mode and setpoint that create the highest accessible temperatures. Include steady operation, realistic loading and surfaces near vents. Use the contact method and probes required by the applicable standard; thermal imaging is valuable for finding hot spots but does not automatically replace the normative measurement method.

Look beyond one golden sample

Insulation position, air gaps, door assembly, fan performance, seal compression and component tolerances affect temperature rise. Review more than one production-representative unit and inspect the assembly after transport or repeated door cycling.
