EU Oven Energy Labels: What Buyers Should Verify—and What Is Out of Scope

The EU oven label reports cavity volume and energy per cycle, but small and portable ovens can fall outside this specific labelling scope.

Read the scope before copying a label

EU Regulation 66/2014 covers defined domestic ovens and related products. The European Commission scope page lists small ovens and portable ovens as outside the domestic-oven energy-labelling scope. That does not mean such products have no legal obligations; it means buyers should not automatically apply the built-in domestic oven label to every countertop product.

What the domestic oven label communicates

For products in scope, the label identifies energy-efficiency class, cavity volume and energy consumption per cooking cycle for conventional and, where applicable, fan-forced mode. These are standardized declarations, not estimates from rated wattage. EPREL and supplier documentation also form part of the market-access workflow.

Buyer controls

Confirm product classification in writing, identify the measurement method and laboratory, verify model identity across the report, label, rating plate and instruction manual, and review standby or networked-standby requirements separately when relevant. Do not reuse a related model’s data unless the conformity rationale supports the family.
